OUR
HISTORY
Allisons ACE
Hardware was established by Nancy and Ira Allison in 1971 and
became an ACE franchise in 1982. The store expanded operations
to a site in Tappahannock in 1985, but that was disposed of when
Ira died in 1992. Nancy and sons, Joseph and Gregory, have carried
on the business in Lottsburg ever since.
For years, one entered into Lottsburg,
driving from Callao toward Heathsville, and saw a big sign suggesting
a turn to the right and a quarter mile drive would bring you to
ACE. Due to the support of the community, Allison's
saw an opportunity to re-locate on 360 with a state of the art
hardware store.
Well now, says Nancy Fisher, theres
no good excuse for not stopping because the new hardware emporium
is "front and center" on Rt. 360 in Lottsburg, just
south of Walmsley Road.
Construction of the 12,500 square
foot building began last October, although plans began to formulate
with the Allisons over five years ago. "We knew that in order
to provide the best service to our customers we needed to build
a state-of-the-art facility," said Nancy, "and we have
recently completed the most modern store building in the entire
area."
The store officially opened on
March 1, 1999; however, the GRAND OPENING recently took place
on Saturday, May 1, 1999. "We have been in business for over
28 years," said Nancy, "and, to this day, the support
from the community for our "home-town" business never
ceases to amaze me. I was overwhelmed by the number of people
that came in on Saturday, either to make a purchase or simply
stop in to visit our new store."
Allisons ACE Hardware continues
to feature a complete line of hardware, plumbing and electrical
supplies and a full-service paint department which offers both
ACE and Benjamin Moore quality paints. A special feature is a
paint computer utilizing the most modern paint matching system
in the industry.
They also clean and repair kerosene
heaters, replace screen and glass for windows and storm doors,
and install awnings and seamless gutters. ECHO lawn equipment
sales and service, and other quality brand names are also marketed
by Allisons capable sales staff. All departments have been
enlarged, and the new lawn and garden center is especially rewarding.
"We offer a very large variety of plants and vegetables,"
said Nancy.
The Allison's are grateful to be
located in a supportive community. "We try to give good old-fashioned
service which this community deserves," said Nancy. "Its
the hard work of our employees over the years, as well as the
dedication of our customers since our opening in 1971, that has
enabled us to grow and prosper. We hope to give back to the community
a portion of the support they have given us."
